DID YOU MEAN WARRIOR?

When my best friend, a famous contemporary artist was trying to find information where Wasior, one place in papua that was affected by flood, is geographically located... she got the answer from google, did you mean Warrior.

Google can't find it. And trust me if Google can't find WASIOR in Papua, many urban Indonesians that are more familiar with Justin Bieber also will not be able to find it. Hahahahaha. I dont know whether this happened becuase of misstype...or its true google cant find it

If we put this logic to the leaders here, most of them dont know which province located in the border side by side with East TImor. No wonder everytime there is election, I am wondering is this picturing reality or just JAKARTA REALITY. We also don't know what Archipelago means.. When I was in junior high school, I had to remember that there is this island named Bangka that produces nickle, there is this Martapura that produces diamond...but no map being shown...we just had to remember.

Later after Tsunami National Geographic came with special edition complete with ring of fire map that shows how many active mountains we have. And this was 2006.

Thank God I took Anthropology major. It helps but not totally helps.



But yet as a city girl and activist, my fate will be different with many people that struggle in many remote islands here in Indonesia.


I bet if I have to face a police who beats me till I've got bloodshed, I just have to call my media friends while people that organise land reclaim that facing repressive military is easily killed without proper advocacy..


That's the reality...MOST BIG MEDIA OFFICE also located in capital.

Techonology helps but (and Jakartans are most big fans and maybe one of the highhest Black Berry consumers) its still not enough to press google to find where is Wasior located...also not enough to do better coordination in disaster area ( many rices was redundant since bad coordination)


And by the way...I don't know how many provinces we have right now especially with all the decentralisation.


Maybe another Mao long march is needed.... Unfortunately, Indonesia is Archipelago maybe sailing ...


There is a Indonesia popular children song , talking about our ancestor is sea man....brave sea man....it's nice to remember this...especially when election coming in 2014 and all candidates sell their logics, but not the ARCHPELAGO LOGIC...nor the SEA MAN logic...


Another long story on why most Indonesians rarely read the GREAT MAO LONG MARCH, or GANDHI touring all over India. Gandhi is fine no one tell our government hes a communist , but not Mao...especially not another modification of Mao long march...
